Wow, no posts for months and now two in one day. I can guarantee you I won't maintain today's pace :)

Anyway, I am approaching some milestones in the next six months. I will be turning 30 & celebrating my five year anniversary in my current position. Nothing will make you feel like a grown up more than the realization you've been at the same job for five years. When I started here, I was single, living in my condo, dating people, buying shoes & handbags ... living the life.

Fast forward five short years- I am now approaching 30, married with a son and a dog and a house. I have retirement savings and a college fund for my kid. Now I get excited about things like appliances. Don't get me wrong- I still adore my shoes and handbags- but it's not like it used to be.

One recent moment really sticks out to me. My husband and I went to a friend's wedding and hired a babysitter. As I stood in the kitchen and gave her instructions and went over emergency contact numbers... I couldn't believe that I was parent. Surreal.

Another weird realization- I'm not one of the "young kids" at the office anymore. I'm one of the married managers with kids who works extra hours just because, and dresses up even when I don't need to. People ask ME questions now. When did this all happen? I don't know but I kind of like it :) It's bizzare, but somewhat comforting. I just need to make sure I don't start wearing mom-jeans and I'll be fine!

What A Difference.

What a difference a prescription can make :) I don't remember where I left off... But my family and close friends urged me to see my doctor so I did. I cannot tell you how much it has helped me! It's not for everyone, but it is what's right for me at this point in my life. I can relax and laugh at annoyances again, I don't cry over everything anymore, I don't take things so seriously, I am doing yoga and loving it, doing well at work, and just generally much happier. I feel like my old self again!

Well, the old me who now has a one year old son! Can you believe it? It's been a whole year & then some. So, what has this working mom/corporate chickee been up to? Looking for a new childcare provider for! Our current, beloved babysitter has to go to work outside the home, so we (I) I have been frantically researching and visiting in-home daycares. We found "it" - its quite a bit more expensive than our current arrangement, but we love her. I feel really good about her caring for my little man, so when it comes to your child- money really doesn't matter. (Well, at least to some degree!)

Besides that, I have a few "resolutions" for the year. Biggest & most important is finances. My husband and I could be in a much better position financially if we spent and saved more wisely. So, that's goal #1 for 2012. I would say I want to learn to cook more... But I don't. I will because a family needs to eat. But I think I have come to terms with the fact that I don't like cooking. And don't suggest the food network. It bores me to tears! Haha. Until next time...
